Martyn and Louise are great hosts, nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing, so much choice. Would have stayed longer if they were not fully booked.

My husband and I spent two excellent nights at Craggan. Our room was perfect, it had a lovely view of the garden, was very spacious with a big comfy bed, and beautifully furnished. The breakfast was outstanding, lots of fruit and sweet treat to choose from plus a great cooked breakfast. The hosts are very lovely, friendly but not intrusive and they even left some cake in our room, which was delicious. We had a wonderful time exploring Ballater which has lots of beautiful walks. Highly recommended.

A warm welcome, stylish B&B, well decorated room, luxury bathroom. The mountain view from our room and terrace was stunning. Martyn and Louise are very friendly hosts. Breakfast was home made. We had a lovely and relaxed stay. Very pity it was only for one night, but we definitely come back.

Spent two nights at Craggan and can’t say enough good about the facility and hospitality of our hosts. Martin and Louise were very friendly and accommodating of some dietary restrictions to the point of baking gluten free breads and muffins for my wife. Louise is an excellent baker and her gluten free bakes were as delicious as the rest of her pastries! Beautiful peaceful setting just outside of Ballater. Spacious well appointed room and bath. Couldn’t ask for anything more!

Absolutely Loved our stay at the Craggan, from the warm welcome of Martin and louise, to the luxurious accomodations.Everything was top notch, location was pristine, with lovely lawn chairs to relax on in the front yard and just enjoy the view.Within walking distance to the charming town of ballater, with pubs and shops, and just a short drive to the town of Braemar.The breakfast was one of the best of our trip, I have never tasted porridge so light an fluffy!

A very warm welcome from lovely hosts, a super comfortable bedroom, the most delicious and generous breakfast and lots of other thoughtful touches. All this and a beautiful location with views over the Dee Valley.Not to be missed - we’ll be back!

We stayed two nights in this very nice house and were welcomed warmly by the hosts. The room was well equipped, large and the beds were very comfortable. Every day we received freshly made cake at the room. The breakfast was very rich incl. fresh fruits and various homemade cakes. Absolutely delicious.Every morning we could watch the rabbits playing on the ground. We can highly recommend this house.

What a wonderful place to stay! Thank you to Martyn and Louise for being such great hosts and looking after us so well. The daily lemon drizzle cake has been greatly missed. Our room on the ground floor with the terrace was beautiful. It had everything we could possibly need and more. The breakfasts meant we didn't need to eat for the rest of the day. A fantastic choice of so many lovely things. A lovely touch was the provision of boxes to fill with home-made cakes from the breakfast spread. We'd love to return again.

Wir haben auf der Durchreise 2 Tage im Craggan übernachtet.Wunderschön eingerichtetes großes Zimmer.Jeden Tag gab es leckeren Kuchen auf das Zimmer.Das Frühstück wird frisch zubereitet. Es fehlt an nichts. Und unsere Gastgeber waren einfach nur wundervoll.

lovely house in the middle of nature with a great view. A cheerful host couple and a friendly dog welcomed us. We stayed in the big and nicely decorated ground floor room with terrace where we could observe the grazing rabbits. We were spoiled with tea, little fridge and homemade sweets in the room ! The room as well as the ensuite bathroom were very clean, the bed very confortable.The sweet breakfast buffet with all homemade goodies was excellent indeed, incl. fresh fruits ! We also could order from a breakfast menu with many additional options the night before.We highly recommand it, also to book it way in advance.Ursula & Martin

Martyn & Louise hold an awesome B&B in super quiet place. Big rooms with super large and ultra comfortable beds. Awesome breakfast with all-home made porridge, pastries, cakes, egg dishes, etc.This place is a pure treat! Loved it.

Craggan was my home for a week during Royal Deeside Golf week .Louise and Martyn gave me a such great welcome as I stayed with them last year . I was in the Lochnagar room which was so comfortable and spacious . Beautiful comfy bed and plenty of soft towels plus a Robe and slippers added to the home from home . The addition of Lemon Drizzle cake and homemade shortbread in the room were a welcome addition to go with tea and coffee Finally the fantastic breakfasts on offer were amazing my favourite being Eggs Benedict , plus boxes to take more of Louise’s amazing home baking was a great touch especially during a round of golf . All in all it was a great stay and I will be back .

This is my second visit to Craggan. It was a fantastic experience last year and exactly the same this year. The accommodation and breakfasts are first class. The hosts go out of their way to take care of you and provide many extras on top of b&b.I’ll be back next year.

The setting, the view, the comfort, the charm of an dignified home with manicured lawns. Room was huge as was bathroom. All you needed and then some including a scotch welcome. Hosts are gracious and warm. Breakfast is abundant with home baked cakes etc.

I can’t rate The Craggan highly enough. Louise and Martyn are exceptional hosts. The little touches like providing boxes to help yourself to the homemade baked goods for later in the day. The room was beautifully decorated, spacious and the bed and pillows so comfortable! 11 out of 10 in my opinion. We have stayed in some beautiful places in the UK in our 5 weeks here. This is our favorite by far.

From the moment Martyn warmly met us on our arrival, we experienced exceptional service from both Martyn and Louise. The room was beautifully furnished with exceptional attention to detail. Breakfast was the best that we experienced in our 6 weeks of travelling through Scotland and Europe. We loved the freshly made muffins and cake and the fruit salad was amazing. We will certainly stay here again if we find ourselves back in the highlands.

A wonderful mansion with royal rooms and a fluffy bed. A majestic breakfast with homemade cakes, slow-cooked porridge on the Aga and a sumptuous Scottish breakfast. A scenery and atmospheric garden that shield you from the outside world. And two hosts who do their utmost to make you feel comfortable and at home. What’s there not to like?

A true “luxury “ bed and breakfast. The hosts were lovely with a great welcome. A beautiful building, wonderful setting, great views. Probably the best breakfast, the best bed, the best shower I’ve ever had the pleasure of using. We will be back, next time for longer.

Martyn and Louise couldn’t have been better as hosts. They were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The B & B is scrupulously clean, well situated and all the good reviews are well deserved. A special mention for the homemade food that is locally sourced and provided in a takeaway box should you not wish to leave it all behind!

When we arrived we were greeted very friendly by a very nice dog and of course by his owner. The room we booked was very nice, comfortable beds, a very spacious bathroom and very attractive furnishings! The breakfast was very good, lovingly freshly prepared and served in a very stylish dining room. Unfortunately we were only there for one night, but would book there again at any time. Wij hadden graag nog een paar dagen langer gebleven bij Martin en Louisa. Zeer gastvrij, riante mooi gedecoreerde kamer met heerlijk vrij uitzicht op tuin overlopend in de omgeving. This is a traditional B&B experience. An older house with lots of charm in the Scottish countryside. The owners of the house were friendly and made us very comfortable during our stay. The breakfast was amazing with lots of home baked treats and traditional Scottish choices. Our favorite scrambled eggs with smoked salmon.

Without a doubt, this must be the best place to stay in the Dee Valley.Kind of off the beaten track, yet strategically positioned for exploring all that the valley has to offer. It is quite secluded, private and peaceful, but only a mile from Ballater and all its restaurants, cafes etc.Craggan sits on a hill with sprawling views from the garden, over the grazing fields, down towards the Dee river and beyond towards the majestic Cairngorms.And if you book the palatially sized Balmoral room, you will also have your own little private patio to sit in, and enjoy the views and the beautiful garden, with dozens of rabbits hopping about in it.All the amenities are a cut above what you will find in quite a lot of 5 star hotels; the breakfast spread is absolutely superb; thetranquillity is heavenly.But the best thing about this place are the hosts Martin and Louise.Relaxed, friendly and charming,they run their business with dedication and flair, and with attention to every detail.Louise's penchant for baking cakes and pastries deserves a special mention; lemon drizzle cake awaits you upon arrival - how about that for service?!I am glad Peter Irvine hasn't yet come across Craggan and added it to his lists, otherwise one wouldn't have been able to book this delightful gem of a place for months and months ahead.A fantastic find!

It was a wonderfull experience to stay in Creggan Leisure. You have a fantastic view from your room and you at 2 steps from Balmoral Castle and the beautiful village of Ballater. Martyn and Louise know the true meaning of a luxury B&B and are excellent hosts.The room is large and comfortable is a fantastic setting.The bed is very comfortable, the water pressure is great with loads of hot water. Large fluffy towels and a rug on the stone bathroom floor.Slippers provided. Sky TV. Good choice of hot drinks in the room along with a dridge with cold bottled water. Fresh cakes supplied daily.Fantistic, freshlycooked breakfast with a good choice on offer that you select the night before.Its best to have a car to get to Ballater but is doable if you are fit and don;t mind the uphill walk back.

Amazing and comfortable stayby the owner. Absolutly fantastic . The equipment was very good, everything was available what you need to feel comfortable. The owners are very welcoming and it was great to meet them. Oh my, Craggan and its hosts will exceed all your expectations. The building and grounds are perfect for a relaxing stay.It's situated close enough to Ballater for easy access to meals and shopping. Lots of room amenities including mini fridge stocked with bottled water, endless coffee and tea, and delicious baked treats daily. A private outdoor patio, binoculars and reading material were added benefits. Ourbathroom was large and the rain shower was hot. Breakfasts were delicious with lots of options. Hosts Martyn and Louise, and dog Monty, obviously enjoy hosting guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay!

My husband and I just completed a two week trip through Scotland and moved every couple of days staying at a total of eight places.We stayed at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh, apartments, B&B and castles.By far, this was our favorite stay!The location in Ballater was very beautiful and relaxing.Louise and Martyn were fabulous host and even made reservations for us for a local restaurant for dinner.Louise is an excellent cook and baker and our breakfast there were the best we had on our trip.I hope to return to Scotland one day and we will make a point to stay again at Craggan.

We recently returned from a lovely 4 night stay at Craggan B&B. It is ideally located just a few minutes drive from Balmoral Castle and Ballater town, the property has fantastic views.We had a very warm welcome from Martyn & Louise who were brilliant hosts throughout. They had thought of everything, were very friendly and couldn't have done enough. Our room was very large and comfortable, spotlessly clean as the B&B was throughout.The breakfasts were the best we have had,very generous portions, so much choice and all top quality stuff! They kindly provide boxes to take away the delicious homemade cakes so that you can have a treat later on in the day if you have room! Then when returning to the room every evening we were delighted to see a tin with more homemade cakes in and also delicious homemade shortbreads were in the room every day! All of the food and baking was first class and those little extras really make a stay!We were really sad to leave! We will definitely visit again soon!Thanks again to Martyn and Louise for a really lovely stay!

Everything about this place was perfect! From the lovely warm welcome from Martyn and Louise, to the sumptuous rooms, gorgeous décor, beautiful views, brilliant breakfasts, and the great location. I loved staying here so much that I really did not want to leave, as it was so was lovely, peaceful and so relaxing. I spent hours watching the bunnies in the field, often with my morning coffee sat outside, feeling like I am in the Peter Rabbit movie 😊 Already thinking how soon can I come back. Best B&B I have ever stayed in!

Lovely elevated rural position accessed via a long drive. Great room, comfortable bed, spacious. Probably great views if the weather had been better. Excellent breakfast, and many homemade cakes. You won’t need much more to eat that day. Highly recommended

We spent 2 days in the delightful Balmoral suite at Craggan. It’s a spacious, beautifully appointed and super comfortable bedroom with a well-equipped private bathroom on the ground floor, which was ideal for us. Their collection of paintings everywhere gave pleasure as wellMartyn is a delightful host and Louise a wonderful cook so breakfasts were a highlight of our stay. Monty, their dog, is friendly and well-controlled. The views from tge property are excellent and the location is ideal for visiting the lovely town of Ballater, Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms. An experience not to be missed. We will return.

Martin and Louise’s incredible B&B came highly recommended to us by a family member and it surpassed all very high expectations! Martin and Louise go above and beyond to ensure their guests have the very best stay. Absolutely everything about our stay was 5 star. The room was warm, spacious and very comfortable. Martyn couldn’t do enough to make sure we had everything we needed.Breakfast was on another level! Top quality ingredients, and home baked good (which we were encouraged to take a ‘doggy bag’ with us for a snack during the day ahead).We’ll most definitely be back. The area is also beautiful with lots to do.

This was a 5 star B&B.We hadphenomenal accommodations with wonderful huge ground level room with large private bath. Martin and Louise met us at our car and assisted us in every way.Our breakfast was ordered the night before and was exactly as we wanted and all the pastries and fruit was homemade and the most delicious we’ve had in Scotland. The house, views, and atmosphere were amazing. It is a lovely walk to the village. I highly recommend this B&B for a stay in Ballater.

Absolutely the most perfect BandB to have ever existed. Every possible detail has been considered. The beds and rooms are clean, sheets crisp yet soft, towels smell wonderful, bed is a CLOUD, there is fresh air all around, tiny bunnies, a cute and well behaved dog, quiet, rolling hills, fresh food, snacks and treats, a very well appointed washroom and glorious shower, perfect pillows, waffle robes, large closet, options for bright or soft lighting, tapestries and lush carpeting, fireplace, china, welcoming music on arrival, hosts with a gentle manner who have serious panache and a sense of humour who obviously care about their space almost as much as they care about their guest.Simply could not recommend more. Desperately want to return.

This is one rare gem! Warm welcoming, bed very confortable, room spacious, clean, with a picturesque view. Food was delicious, home made ( I think Louise could be a chef! ) all kind of delicate attentions, including the lemon cake… After 2 weeks in Scotland, staying in various accomodations, including 5stars hotel, this was the greatest place we stayed in! Best place we stayed in our week touring Scotland. Wonderful room with great views of the countryside and super location just outside Ballater on the way to Balmoral. The home baked treats served at breakfast and afternoon tea were delicious. Great hosts, highly recommended.

A little bit of sanctuary, just a few minutes out of the town of Ballater. Food and service of the very highest standards within the tasteful surrounds of a lovely family home.

We had wonderful stay with Martyn & Louise in their luxury accommodation. Fantastic setting with amazing views, large bedroom and bathroom with amazing shower. The hosts worked hard to make sure our stay was special. Lovely breakfast with homemade cakes/ biscuits included. The hosts were so friendly and made us very welcome. Probably one of the best B&Bs that we have stayed in, would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Wow, tremendous, a really wonderful experience- comfy bed huge, home made cake(wonderful lemon drizzle) and not only that but home made shortbread biscuits🥰Really helpful and friendly host,guided us to a fab evening restaurant. This was a delightful place to stay in Ballater. The owners were meticulous in their preparation for us, the room was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Lots of perfect little extras provided.

We stayed here for 2 nights and couldn’t rate more highly. The rooms are very spacious, well equipped and tastefully decorated with stunning views across the countryside. Lots of lovely little touches including a delicious lemon drizzle in our fridge on arrival. The breakfast is magnificent with a huge spread of delicious pastries/cakes and then your choice of anything cooked. Most of all though the service is impeccable - Martyn, Louise and their dog Monty are hugely welcoming, polite and generous. They make a perfect team. Whilst heading to a wedding we struggled to get a taxi and Martyn even acted as our chauffeur…what a gent!! Will definitely visit again if in the area and looking forward to their next project (maybe that castle!!).

A wonderful experience.The house, its location, furnishings and art collection are beautiful. Rooms are perfect particularly for fellow back sufferers like me. I stayed for a week during the Royal Deeside Golf Week in a super king sized room with all the facilities and more it was luxurious.Martyn made my friend and I so welcome on arrival . Louise spoiled us with superb breakfasts plus blueberry loaf and flan, shortbread and lemon drizzle cake.We could even take that in boxes to eat during our long golf days!Overall it was a fantastic experience with superb hosts . I will definitely be back .

Martin and Louise are the most amazing guests. The bedrooms are scrumptious and you are welcomed by freshly made cake in your room. Louise should be on the British bake off. The Breakfast is so delicious and I couldn't try all the cakes so Martin showed me the doggy boxes to takeaway. Beautiful views of the Highlands from your windows await you. I can't wait to return.

Wauw, this place is perfect. Nice hygge rooms with your own luxury bathroom and wonderfull view. The nearest town, Ballater is also very nice and is only 5 min drive away or a nice walk. Martyn and Louise makes a wonderful breakfast and are very helpfull. We will defently visit again👍🏻

I can not write enough good things about this place. Everything was absolutely perfect, from the warm and caring welcome by our hosts, to the amazing giant and ultra comfy bedroom, astonishing bathroom and brilliant breakfast. Just go there, please.

Beautiful property, amazing views, quiet, relaxing and very attentive and kind hosts.Couldn't take advantage of the full breakfast spread as didn't have the time which was a shame because what I did have was lovely.Louise did package some goodies for the drive home thought so thank you to you both, they were lovely. I don't tend to stay in B&B's very often but just wanted to drive through the Cairngorms and Craggan was set in the perfect spot.Thank you Martin and Louise, you were very welcoming even though I did sense a little surprise when I arrived, you probably don't get may people staying for work, it doesn't matter if you were because you far exceeded my expectations of a B&B, I would definitely stay again if we were to visit the area again and would definitely recommend to others, 10 out of 10.

We stayed a single night. The accommodation was beautiful. Set in a rural property with fields in all direction and far back from the road, the stay was quiet and relaxing. Martin and Louise were great hosts, and they kindly dropped us into the pretty local town of Ballater for dinner and then and picked us up as again afterwards. The home cooked breakfast was especially nice as well. Highly recommended.

Even after being back 2 weeks now, a big smile on our face appears when we think back to our stay at Craggan (Ballater, Scotland). Everything was perfect here: the large, pleasant, comfortable rooms with great views, the house itself, its beautiful setting and most of all: it's hosts. So enormously welcoming,super friendly, entertaining and caring: nothing was too much for Louise and Martyn. The Craggan would be one of the best Bed and Breakfasts we have stayed in-and we have travelled a lot. Brilliant hosts Louise and Martin who were very enthusiastic to have people stay. As was their dog Monty. The accommodation was beautifully presented, best bed and bedding I’ve slept in. Had everything you needed when travelling, it was luxuriously comfortable and quiet.Breakfast was just awesome, and had a great variety. Highly recommend here to stay and we would definitely come back.

We stayed 4 nights with Louise and Martyn, and would stay with them again, should we ever travel to Scotland again.The accommodation provided is sumptuous, the bedroom very spacious and the bathroom large. Bed wonderfully 'sink into' feather comfort, and huge.Breakfast, supplied, is a delicious mixture of juice, fruit, pastries and muffins as well as a huge cooked full English breakfast. Coffee they use is divine.You aren't far from Ballater, but still in a lovely,peaceful, rural vacation.Definitely worth staying at least 2 nights there.Well done Louise and Martyn.

Best B&B we have ever stayed in by a country mile. The hosts were super friendly and we felt welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was spacious and fitted with quality fittings and the views were magnificent. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choices and cooked to order and not from a Bain Marie. Friendly and welcoming hosts made us feel at home immediately. Lovely room, spacious with very comfortable bed and nice furnishings, delicious breakfast freshly prepared. Very good location about a mile from ballater in peaceful surroundings with great views. Would definitely return and would not hesitate to recommend to others.

On arrival we were greeted by the lovely couple who own this magnificent B&B. This is the best B&B we have ever stayed in and believe me we have stayed in some lovely ones. This is by far the best. The room, well words cannot do it justice. Just beautiful, enormous, exceptionally clean, views magnificent, everything you would need is being offered in this B&B. Will without doubt give all our family and friends the name of this family run business. And feel confident they will love it as much as we have. We loved the location in Ballater, close proximity to the highlights in the area.Our room was cosy, private and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was outstanding, made with all locally sourced products. Martyn and Louise are wonderful hosts. We stayed only 1 night and wished we could have stayed longer.

As a writer I make every attempt never to overuse superlatives. Our eye was drawn to the area by an article featuring another hotel which was fully booked. How fortunate for us. The alternative was our true destiny. The exuberance of owner Louise had me hooked from the moment I phoned. Our portion of this renovated country house made us feel more regal than the neighbours on the Balmoral estate. Every last detail of the furnishings, decor, food and friendliness was exceptional. I searched in vain for a descriptive adjective to exceed exquisite and sublime to indicate the degree of perfection. Then decided to invent the ultimate accolade; the pinnacle of luxury accommodation - it is simply Craggan.We wish our hosts Martyn and Louise the level of success they so richly deserve.Until our next visit Craggan will remain the highlight of our tour.

This is a wonderful place to stay! The landscape is varied and has something for everyone. Active people can climb the surrounding hills on foot or by bike. And for the people who are more into sightseeing, there is also quite a bit to see, like Balmoral Castle or Ballater.And you can surely have a relaxing stay at the house, too.Louise and Martyn are excellent hosts. They are very attentive and leave their guests wanting for nothing.The room we had included everything we could want and need. It was very large and even had a nice terrace. The bed was big enough for two people and all appliances were of very high quality.The bathroom was also very comfortable and large.There was a rain shower and many products including soaps for hands, body, shampoo and conditioner made in Scotland. Bathrobes and slippers were also provided.The breakfast was very diverse, we could choose new freshly cooked items each morning. The food was delicious, best breakfast we've had!All in all, I didn't miss anything during my 2-night stay and even if I had, I'm sure Louise and Martyn would have done everything to make it happen.

Louise, Martyn and Monte the dog are offering a warm welcome and their house is simply wonderful.We enjoyed staying with them and would have loved to stayed much longer. The breakfast was amazing, go for the Scottish breakfast - unbeatable! Lots of little details in the room from cookies, hot chocolate and plugs with an integrated phone charging device made the stay memorable. I cannot praise Craggan highly enough. From a lovely welcome on arrival, the fantastic location and a beautiful house, our time there was perfect. Attention to detail regards how Martyn and Louise have chosen the furniture and decor is first class, done with an artists eye for perfection whilst keeping firmly in a style that compliments the house fully. All rooms were spotlessly clean and the food excellent. The view of the surrounding countryside constantly caught ones attention, something new to note continually, such is its span. Our stay was to celebrate a significant anniversary and we are so happy we chose to spend it at Craggan.

Martin & Louise were very welcoming and made us feel at home. The house has been thoughtfully renovated and redecorated. Our room (Keizer) was very comfortable though the separate bathroom was a bit cold. The breakfast was huge!We would not hesitate to recommend Craggan and plan to come back.

Had a 3 night stay here on a cycling trip around the Highlands.Martyn & Louise were fabulous hosts and nothing was too much trouble.The room was outstanding, absolutely spotless and everything you needed provided.Nice touches like the homemade shortbread and Tunnocks!Breakfast was very good and plenty of it.I will definitely be back.

What a house and what a setting.The views are some of the best I have seen in Scotland.The room (Balmoral) is probablythe largest B&B room I have ever stayed in. The bathroom was lovely and well appointed too. The breakfast was very good. Definitely worth a visit. Now that we are back home I can honestly say that it was the stop over of the trip.

We had a fantastic stay in Keiller with views right across the glen. Martyn and Louise were very welcoming along with Monty the labrador! A wonderful night of pure luxury on our stopover before joining the NC500 around the North of Scotland in our motorhome. Never been in a comfier.Will be back.
